Our Salute to Veterans 2017

Veterans at local health care facilities were thanked and honored for their military service last week by members of Plantation Lakes Garden Club.

Following our monthly business meeting, on November 1, President Margaret Woda demonstrated how to make the arrangements. She used purchased mini-carnations from Kitty's Flowers in Millsboro and containers that were prepared in advance by a committee of six members led by chair, Gale Harley.

Each member made two or three arrangements that were delivered by four PLGC members to Veterans at Atlantic Shores Rehab and Health Center in Millsboro and the Delaware Hospital for Veterans in Milford.

One of the volunteers who helped to deliver the flowers said that she had the honor of meeting each recipient of an arrangement and was really moved by their stories and their gratitude. This was our second year for this project, and we anticipate that it will become an annual tradition.

The workshop is a fun activity and we are grateful for the opportunity to brighten the day of Veteran patients, at least for a day.
