May Day Field Trip

SOLD OUT
Welcome to members of Barefoot Gardeners and Gardeners by the Sea who will join Plantation Lakes Garden Club members to view May Baskets in the Historic District of Annapolis on May Day. We expect to arrive in the city about 10:00 a.m., just as the judges begin their task of viewing and evaluating the baskets in their assigned areas.
The color-coded map on this page indicates the eight different judging areas, which we will borrow for the purpose of forming groups of 4-8 like-minded people, whether you prefer to tour at a leisurely pace or a steady pace. Some groups may choose to include browsing or shopping in the stores, touring the State Capital or visiting the U.S. Naval Academy. A survey will be distributed to participants in early April to help form groups based on similar preferences. The streets and sidewalks will be crowded so it might be difficult for a larger group to stick together but, of course, two or three groups may choose to tour the same areas.
Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather forecast. We all hope for a beautiful sunny day, but my friends who have previously toured Annapolis on May Day tell me that wet weather keeps the crowds down and makes it easier to see the May Baskets or get a table for lunch.
