COMMUNITY EVENTS

Sponsored by Plantation Lakes Garden Club

2020 Blooming-ZOOM Festival

You are cordially invited to attend the first ever Blooming-ZOOM Festival, sponsored by Central Atlantic Region of State Garden Clubs. This will be a four-day event, featuring seven programs on various topics. And you don't have to be a garden club member to participate! For more details about the programs, speakers, dates, times and registration, visit CAR-SGC.org/zoomfestival.

  • Gardening is Murder. A program presented by Neal Saunders, author of several mystery novels about strong independent women. Some of them solve murders. Others commit murders. And there might be a few who do both - including some garden club ladies.

  • There was no MiracleGro in the Garden of Eden. A program presented by Bonnie Satterthwaite, a regional sales manager with Espoma Organic. Bonnie promises to entertain us while educating us about organic gardening.

  • Photo Tips and Tricks. A workshop presented by Lynn O'Shaughnessy, winner of the recent "First Signs of Spring" photography contest sponsored by Fine Gardening Magazine and Monrovia. See her winning photo.

  • The Sensory Appeal of Native Plants. A program presented by Gregg Tepper, Horticulturist Extraordinaire, who will share with us some stories and interesting facts about the sights, sounds and smells of native plants.

  • Botanical Arts. A workshop presented by Marion Romeo, NGC Master Flower Show Judge and Master Gardener, who will show us how to successfully combine flowers and crafts for a winning flower show entry.

  • HABITAT - The Philadelphia Flower Show. A program presented by Matt Rader, President of the Philadelphia Flower Show and Sam Lemheney, Chief of Shows and Events. They will have an update for us about what to expect at the new and different Philadelphia Flower Show in 2021.

  • Found Materials. A workshop presented by Melane Hoffman, Owner of Hidden Ridge Farm Flowers and Herbs in Maryland. Melane will demonstrate how items we find in our yard and neighborhood can be integrated into our floral designs.
