Blue Star Memorial
Plantation Lakes Garden Club is pleased to announce that a Blue Star Memorial Byway Marker and Garden to honor veterans and service members is under construction in front of the community center at 29787 Plantation Lakes Boulevard, Millsboro, DE 19966. Dedication of the memorial and garden is tentatively scheduled on June 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Please stop by to say "hello" if you see our club members working at the site.
Thank you to everyone in Plantation Lakes and greater Millsboro who has supported our plant sales and attended our fundraisers to support this and many other community service projects. We also want to thank Thrivent Financial for their grants to help fund this Blue Star Memorial and Garden.

HISTORY OF THE BLUE STAR MEMORIAL
The New Jersey Council of Garden Clubs planted eight thousand dogwood trees in 1944 to create a living tribute to men and women who served during World War II. A year later, the National Council of State Garden Clubs (now National Garden Clubs, Inc.) adopted the New Jersey program and the Blue Star symbol when they created a Blue Star Highway System across the Continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii.
